We require everyone complete a fifteen minute free screening before signing up for any classes.

We recommend that you come to class ten minutes early to warm up. Clients may be given an individualized warm up sheet.

Apparatus Class Description (All Apparatus):            

This class utilizes a series of gentle, core-focused movement patterns on all parts of the apparatus, addressing upper and lower extremity muscle groups with emphasis on joint mobility and core stability.

While the instructor leads the class through a sequence of movements using verbal cues as well as direct hands on cueing, participants go at their own pace, staying within their comfort zone while introducing healthy movement patterns in a fun, focused atmosphere. Reclined, seated and standing positions are utilized throughout the sequence.

Apparatus Pilates equipment for classes include reformers, jump boards, trapeze tables, springboards and ped-o-pulls.

 

Mat Class Description:

This class focuses on building a foundational core for a variety of skill levels to develop accurate movement patterns, lengthening and strengthening postural muscle groups. The class consists of a sequence of exercises performed on the mat utilizing props and progressing through all muscle groups. Emphasis is placed on core stability and strengthening to allow muscle and body lengthening. The class concludes with a meditative relaxation period to rejuvenate the mind and body.

Foundation Class Description (Mat & Reformer):                                                  

This class involves a core set of Pilates exercises performed on both reformer and mat in supine, seated, side-lying, quadruped and prone positions. This builds the base level skills for beginning students and challenges the foundation for intermediates.

 

Small Group Class Description (All Apparatus)

Small Group Class is unique in that it requires a Polestar Pilates Fitness Assessment performed by a Polestar Pilates Graduate (or candidate) prior to joining. This assessment allows the instructor to custom design a tailored Pilates program which meets the individual client’s goals, while appropriately taking into account medical/rehab history as overseen by our physical therapist. Class size does not exceed five people so that the instructor may give each person individualized attention and progress programs as needed.
